About Us

Vivacious Cosmetics Opened for business in 2013.

In my travels as a Makeup Artist, I found all of my clients asking the same thing over & over!

“I just want a range of Skincare & Cosmetics that is good for my skin & doesn’t cost a fortune!”

Here it was that Vivacious Cosmetics was born!

We decided that we would source the very best in quality Skincare and Cosmetics, sourced from or made in Australia. And so it begins!

We offer you the very best in Skincare & Cosmetics Sourced from or made in Australia!

Most, if not all of our products are Organic, Natural, & Vegan.

Vivacious Cosmetics, has also developed wonderful relationships with many Hair Spas & Salons in New South Wales, who are interested in having a range of Shampoos, Conditioners & Treatments that are beneficial to their clients, with no harmful effects to their wellbeing.

You will also find us at the Newcastle Farmers Markets on most Sunday Mornings, as well as the The Entrance Farmers Markets on the Central Coast, on the 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month, and at the Speers Point Markets on the beautiful Lake Macquarie every 2nd & 4th Saturday of each month.

It is here that we speak to, and take notice of, those who are very conscious of what goes on and in our bodies. Vivacious Cosmetics has been well received by the community, and we have developed a very loyal following.

There is an old saying “You should feel comfortable in your own skin!”

And so you should…..

One of the largest organs we have is our skin, we are all so concerned with what goes into our bodies these days, and (once again…so we should!)

BUT, always remember…. Whatever you put on your skin is going into your bloodstream through your skin!

You might have heard that sure, parabens and other chemicals are bad if ingested, but they can’t penetrate your skin so you don’t have anything to worry about. The fact is, that much of what we place on our skin is absorbed into our bloodstream. Just think about nicotine and birth control patches. While there may be some chemicals that are too large to enter your bloodstream most are small enough to penetrate. We have had studies done on everything from umbilical cords of unborn children to adult urine and have found alarming levels of cosmetic chemicals. So I say you’re better off doing your best to avoid all known harmful chemicals because chances are they’re entering your bloodstream.

The next thing you want to think about is the level of exposure you’re getting from the products you’re using. Different products mean different levels of exposure and concern. For instance, if you use a lotion all over your body and it soaks into your skin all day, you’re getting a lot more exposure to those chemicals than if you were to use the same ingredients in a face cleanser that is quickly washed off. So be strategic– try to get the best ingredients in products that you have a lot of exposure to (shampoo, lotion, sunscreen, etc…) and if you want relax your standards a bit for products like hand soap that gets washed off.

When we try to be perfect, we get paralyzed. It can get so overwhelming to constantly worry about each ingredient in every product that we just want to forget the whole thing and buy a bar of soap already. The way to avoid this is by choosing when to demand a certain standard and when to relax. That way you don’t have to worry about every ingredient all the time and you still drastically improve the overall quality of your beauty products.

Top products to look for cleanest ingredients

  1. Anything you soak in a bath
  2. Anything you apply and do not wash off, such as lotion, face cream and body oil

Although there is a growing acknowledgment that toxins in our food (such as pesticides) harm our bodies, many people are still unaware of how great an impact the cosmetic and toiletry items they use can have on their health.

Have you ever received a topical prescription from a doctor, such as an anti-fungal or anti-bacterial cream? Or used a topical pain reliever for a mouth sore (or for your baby’s teething)? Why do these products work so well when applied to our skin, rather than taken orally?

The reason is that our skin readily absorbs chemicals and other substances deeper into our body- through our skin layers, into muscles and fat, and ultimately into our bloodstream! That lovely scented lotion that you enjoy wearing does not just float around on the outer layer of your skin until it is washed away in the shower- it penetrates deeper and deeper into your body as you wear it.

Once absorbed into our bodies and blood streams, these chemicals can cause:

  • Cancer
  • Developmental/reproductive toxicity
  • Allergies
  • Immunotoxicity
  • Neurotoxicity
  • Endocrine (hormonal) disruption
  • Organ system toxicity
  • Irritation (skin, eyes, or lungs)
  • Enhanced skin absorption (some chemicals actually cause our skin to absorb even more chemicals!
  • Biochemical or cellular level changes
